Carragher and Neville snub Liverpool’s £36m new boy for Premier League signing of the season

Monday night saw another instalment of Monday Night Football with Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.

The pair had plenty to discuss, with them even picking their Team of the Seasons and Signing of the Season.

Carragher opted for West Ham new boy Tomas Soucek who has undoubtedly been an unbelievable signing.

The Czech Republic international has 9 goals from 35 appearances in the Premier League this season.

His compatriot, Neville, instead opted for Edinson Cavani, which is of no surprise to anyone anymore.

You can see the pair argue their case in the video posted by Sky Sports on Twitter below…

However, one player that the pair seemed to overlook was Liverpool new signing Diogo Jota.

The Portuguese forward has enjoyed a great start to life with the club in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Despite an injury set back for almost three months between December and March, Jota has really hit the ground running.

From just 17 league games this season, Jota managed to notch up 8 goals.

His impact and performances this season can arguably put him in the signing of the season category.

It is quite a surprise that the pair overlooked the forward, especially Carragher.

There wasn’t any surprise at the fact that Neville picked a United player, but Jota’s snub is a poor take.

Admittedly Liverpool haven’t been at their best this season but Jota has shone through despite that.

Next season we will hopefully see the Reds pick up their for again, with Jota leading the charge again.
