Gary Neville labels Liverpool’s £58.5m star as best in the league, yet leaves him out of Team of the Season

Monday night saw Sky Sports duo Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville pick their Premier League Teams of the Season.

The pair reached some agreements, but on the whole had very different teams by the end of Monday Night Football.

Gary Neville produced the more interesting teams of the night, with him selecting 9 players from just Manchester City and Manchester United.

One of the players he selected that wasn’t from those two clubs was Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Neville opted for Mendy, despite stating that Reds goalkeeper Alisson was one of the best goalkeepers in the league alongside City’s Ederson.

The inclusion of Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw is understandable as the pair have been very impressive.

However, Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford should be nowhere near that team.

As well as this, it also doesn’t make sense including Mendy.

Understandably, Alisson hasn’t been at his best this season and neither had the Liverpool squad in general.

His fellow countryman, Ederson, should be in that spot given City’s dominance at the back this season.

Kevin De Bruyne hasn’t exactly had his greatest season and that spot should be not be his.

The likes of Tomas Soucek and Mason Mount have had better seasons that De Bruyne.

Neville has picked a very odd team hear and it is safe to say the United bias is present.
