Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk recently made the decision to steer clear of this summers European Championships and instead concentrate on being fit for the start of next season.
Unsurprisingly that decision was welcomed by Kopites and Jurgen Klopp alike – having seen the effect the Dutchman’s absence has had on the side since his campaign ending injury last October.
Whilst most football fans are au fait with the defensive and leadership attributes the Reds have lacked at the heart of their defence without the 29-year-old colossus, it’s perhaps another side of the ace’s game that has been equally as missed.
The centre-back has an unerring ability to open up defences with his range of passing, both long and short, a quality that was lauded by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta when the Reds ran out 3-1 victors against the Gunners at Anfield last year.
Just to remind Liverpool fans of what they’ve got to look forward to next term, Twitter user CF Comps has compiled a joyous compilation of Van Dijk’s passes – including one defence-splitting assist in the Allianz Arena.

During the 2019/20 Premier League-winning campaign, the Dutch captain created two big chances and had an overall passing accuracy of 89 per cent (Sofascore).

Get ready for a summer of pining to see the Rolls Royce back up and running.
Potentially partnered alongside a new man in Ibrahima Konate, Reds everywhere can afford to be excited about seeing Van Dijk pulling the strings from the back once again.
Billed as a ‘comeback season’ by the man himself, Liverpool will surely be going all out to right the wrongs of 2020/21.
