Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are set to take the off-field spending to £224million with the Anfield Road expansion.
Plans for the £60million proposed redevelopment of the stand were given the green light by Liverpool City Council’s planning committee earlier this week.
The expansion will increase the capacity by around 7,000, taking the overall capacity to more than 61,000 – as well as installing 7,800 rail seats.
Having already completely regenerated the Main Stand and built a whole new state of the art training centre in Kirkby, the investment has been clear for all to see.

Often criticised for their decision making – never more so than the recent involvement in the breakaway European Super League – the ownership group have certainly been getting things right when it comes to developing the periphery.

Whilst it could be argued the much-maligned owners should have put a similar investment into the playing squad, it’s difficult to not be impressed with the off-field work.
Anfield has been in need of additional capacity for some time now and in doing so will help those special European nights become even more memorable.
