Liverpool’s summer transfer window is already off to a fantastic start with the signing of Ibrahima Konaté.
The Reds bought the Frenchman from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig at the start of the month for £36million.
This hasn’t stopped plenty of other rumours flowing through, however, with a number of big players linked.
One player, in particular, has shown a real desire to join the club in the past, after an interview from 2019 resurfaced.
Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi has been linked with the club over the last few weeks after his impressive Euro 2020 showing.
The 26-year-old impressed for the Azzurri, making 6 appearances and notching up two assists.
However, the aforementioned interview has shown his previous interest in joining the club after sitting down with Goal…
As cited by LFC Transfer Room, the Italian winger has stated that if he could choose, his next club would be Liverpool.
His previous time from Sassuolo to Juventus didn’t end too well, with him moving back to I Neroverdi.
There is no denying that Berardi would be a great fit into the side to provide further depth in attack.
However, that would mean him being happy to play second fiddle to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané next season.
Although, these were the terms for which Diogo Jota was brought in for and his impact has been remarkable.
So much so, that he himself is now a valued component of the club’s attack, so the same thing could certainly happen for Berardi.
The winger currently has a market value of £31.5million according to Transfermarkt.
Not only that but his wages would no doubt be at a realistic level for the club to tend with – so this could be a move we may see in the near future.
