Liverpool finally confirm £36m signing of Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig

Liverpool have finally confirmed the signing of French centre-back Ibrahima Konaté.

The 22-year-old had been on the club’s radar for some time, with a deal already agreed back in April according to Fabrizio Romano.

Now, it is official that Konaté is finally a Liverpool players, with him set to join the squad on 1st July.

The club announced the signing just an hour ago, with Konaté signing a long term deal with the Reds…

It is a great deal for the club given the issues they had in defence this season.

Injuries to players such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip left Jurgen Klopp with no fit senior centre-back’s.

However, next season the reds will have all three back fit as well as the new signing of Konaté.

Not only is Konaté joining the Reds, but reportedly Klopp aims to partner him up in central defence with Van Dijk.

It would be interesting to see him alongside the Dutchman, with the pair likely to build a formidable partnership.

The deal for Konaté looks to be around the £36million mark – a great deal for a player with such potential.

Liverpool finally have their first piece of business done for the summer and it is at a perfect time.

It is always to important to get the deals done early to allow the player time to mix with the rest of the squad.

With three months until the start of next season, Konaté has more than enough time to get to know his teammates.
