Virals: Report names Mohamed Salah as ‘biggest priority’ at Liverpool

Liverpool are set to prioritise reaching a contract agreement with Mohamed Salah this summer.

This comes as reports on Monday (July 19) claimed that Reds’ captain Jordan Henderson faces uncertainty over his future at Anfield.

The 31-year-old has two years remaining on a deal at the club and negotiations have seemingly stalled over a new deal.

As both Marko Grujic and Taiwo Awoniyi confirm their departures from Merseyside, a report from The Athletic, as cited by Football Transfers on Twitter, has suggested Salah will be the initial focus.

The report highlights the Egyptian as well as fellow 29-year-olds Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino as being in the final two years of their respective deals, whilst suggesting the process of tying them down or otherwise will be ‘staggered’.

Keeping together the much-famed front three has always been viewed as imperative towards success at Liverpool.

That remains the case for now but at some point, there will be a shift.

Whilst all three are deserving of new deals in their own right, Salah’s outstanding campaign in 2020/21 makes him a clear priority.

Comparatively, both Mane and Firmino suffered dips in form last term and perhaps Jurgen Klopp could begin to look for a replacement or two on top of Diogo Jota.

How the club handles the front three moving forwards will be an intriguing watch and one that the hierarchy simply has to get spot on.
