Virals: Liverpool named amongst quartet keen on £30m Renato Sanches deal

Liverpool have been named amongst a quartet of clubs keen on signing Lille midfielder Renato Sanches this summer.

The Reds have been linked with the 23-year-old throughout the summer transfer window as Jurgen Klopp looks to replace Gini Wijnaldum in the Anfield squad.

Sanches enjoyed an inspirational 2020/21 campaign as Lille lifted the Ligue 1 title before starring for Portugal at the European Championships.

According to a report from French newspaper L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter, Liverpool face competition from Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Capped on 30 occasions by Portugal, Sanches has reinvented a career following a dismal loan spell at Swansea during 2017/18.

Since then the ace hailed as a ‘big prospect’ by Patrick Viera has gone from strength to strength in France.

Last season the combative midfielder scored once and registered three assists in 23 league outings.

Signing a Wijnaldum replacement simply has to be a priority at Anfield this summer.

The Dutchman made 51 appearances in 2020/21 as those around him suffered from injuries, an issue that has unfortunately plagued the Liverpool careers of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.

Having already proven too unreliable to be counted on for the duration of a season, an additional midfield option is an essential part of the transfer window.

Despite suffering fitness issues of his own, signing Sanches for the mooted £30million asking price would be a bargain for the player’s ability.
