Liverpool central defender Ben Davies has officially joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan spell.
The 26-year-old joined the Reds amidst a defensive crisis on transfer deadline day back in February but failed to make a single first-team appearance for the club in 2020/21.
Despite recently making a debut during Jurgen Klopp’s pre-season preparations, Davies has left for the recently-relegated Yorkshire club in an attempt to help the Blades bounce back at the first time of asking.
The move was confirmed by the club’s official website and on Twitter on Monday evening.

Following the move, Daves spoke to Sheffield United’s official website about the decision to initially join Liverpool.
It (joining Liverpool) was a move that you could never turn down, it was really exciting. The whole set-up there is incredible, the club is like you wouldn’t believe until you actually get in there and see it for yourself. So I’ve had a good six months or so, but playing football is the most important thing to any footballer. That’s what got me driven to come out on loan and hopefully play some games and get back enjoying that competitive side again.

This is a departure that seemed almost inevitable during the summer transfer window.
As the returning first-choice trio of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip come back to fitness, supplemented by the arrival of Ibrahima Konate, Davies was facing an uphill battle to even make the bench at Anfield.
Signed for £1.6million from Preston North End for £1.6million (Goal), journalist Neil Jones has reported that the Reds will receive £500,000 initially for the move sending the defender to Bramall Lane.
Valued at £2.7million (Transfermarkt), Liverpool will ultimately be looking to recoup their expenditure on the ace.
