Virals: Liverpool ‘enquire’ over Yves Bissouma asking price

Liverpool have reportedly asked for further information on Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old Mali international throughout the summer following the departure of midfield enforcer Gini Wijnaldum.

Now, as the transfer window heads steadfast towards its deadline, it’s claimed the interest hasn’t gone away just yet.

That’s according to journalist Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast, as cited by SHooMit on Twitter.

My information is that there are inquiries from Liverpool. Now he has improved significantly during his time at Brighton and what is quite important here is that his statistics are exceptionally good. Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal as to how much it would cost to sign him. We know that clubs – in particular United, Liverpool and Arsenal – are particularly heavy on this and use analytics as a filter to decide which players to pursue. You can see why his game would fit Liverpool’s set-up under Klopp. I understand that Brighton have opened discussions with Bissouma about improving his salary and extending his contract with the idea of keeping hold of him for at least another season.

So far this season Bissouma has provided one assist – earning an average Sofascore rating of 7.30 in the process.

Signing the 18-cap ace this summer would provide an adequate replacement for Wijnaldum.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract until 2023 (Transfermarkt), Brighton would likely be desperate to tie down their prized asset beyond the current 24-month timeline.

The fact Bissouma hasn’t missed a game due to injury in over two seasons, coupled with superb tackling, dribbling and interception skills (WhoScored), make the Malian a superb option for Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool should certainly be testing the water and Brighton’s resolve before Tuesday’s deadline.
