Liverpool did not make ‘official enquiry’ for Brighton’s £22.5m midfielder

The transfer window ends in just days and it appears that the Reds are now stepping up their activity.

So far this summer the club has signed French centre-back Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig.

Along with the new arrival, the Reds have also seen a number of first-team players leave the club too.

The likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri, Harry Wilson, and Marko Grujic have all departed the club.

Despite such players leaving, the club has failed to replace or reinvest in the squad.

However, recent reports have now suggested that the Reds could be set for a late deal in the summer window.

According to journalist Tony Banks, Liverpool had made an opening move for Brighton’s Yves Bissouma.

As cited by Anfield Watch above, the Reds seemed to be looking towards a potential Wijnaldum replacement.

The Dutchman’s departure left a huge hole in Jurgen Klopp’s options in midfield.

Bissouma is a talented player and of all the midfielders available, he suits the Wijnaldum role as best as anyone.

However, it has now been revealed that the club did not make any move, as reported by The Athletic’s Brighton correspondent Andy Naylor

Bissouma is a fantastic player and would more than suit Liverpool and the role left by Wijnaldum’s departure.

Despite this, it appears as though those rumours are untrue, with Liverpool set for a quiet end to the window.

Whether they choose to operate in the January window is unknown but it is expected to see plenty of activity next summer.
