Liverpool have been very dormant throughout this summer’s transfer window despite a busy start.
The beginning of the window saw the club sign French defender Ibrahima Konaté join the Reds for £36million.
As well as that, a number of players have left the club including some important squad players.
The likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri, Harry Wilson, and Marko Grujic have all departed to name a few.
However, despite the number of departing players, the club have failed to bring anyone else in.
Throughout the last few months, the club had been heavily linked with a potential deal for Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.
After a lack of activity on the matter, it now looks as though Sanches is set to join Wolves on a season-long loan…
As cited by The Athletic’s Wolves reporter Tim Spiers above, it seems as though Sanches could slip through the club’s fingers.
It would be a shame to see such a talented midfielder poached away from the club, especially to Wolves.
Allowing a fellow Premier League club to strengthen with your own targets is a dangerous game.
Liverpool have watched their rivals add some incredible additions to their squad this summer without competing in the market.
Sanches would have been a perfect player to replace the likes of Wijnaldum in Liverpool’s stellar midfield.
However, it appears now that the Reds are set to be beaten for the signing of the Portuguese international.
It is now looking to be a quiet end to the transfer window for the club despite the need for reinforcements.
