Despite the transfer window ending just over a week ago, the club is still being linked with a number of players.
Yesterday saw that the Reds were rumoured to be plotting a January move for Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler.
Today, however, it appears as though the club are looking at another player from La Liga.
According to BBC Sport, the newspapers in Spain claim that Liverpool are targeting a move for Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio.
The paper in question, Todofichajes, claims that the Reds are planning a winter move for Asensio as well.
As reported by BBC Sport below, Asensio is apparently aiming to get his career back on track after falling out of favour…
It is true that Asensio has somewhat fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old joined the Spanish giants from RCD Mallorca back in 2015 for just over £3million.
Chances have been few and far between over the last few seasons, with him not performing at the top level.
There is no denying that Asensio is a great player with plenty of potential at just 25.
Under a manager such as Jurgen Klopp, Asensio could certainly reach the heights he was once expected to.
With a current market value of £31.5million, a fairly reasonable deal could likely be reached if the winger is looking to leave.
The Spaniard currently has a year and a half left on his deal at Real and is yet to negotiate an extension.
With the Reds lacking in firepower in depth, Asensio could be the perfect fit alongside Liverpool’s star-studded attack.
