Liverpool set to target Valencia’s £36m midfield maestro in January move

Liverpool ended their summer transfer window on a quiet note after completing their business early on.

The Reds signed French centre-back Ibrahima Konaté at the start of the window for £36million from RB Leipzig.

Despite a number of players leaving the club throughout the window, he remained their only signing.

The likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri, Harry Wilson, and Marko Grujic all made the move away.

One of the biggest expectations was the possibility of a replacement for Dutchman Wijnaldum.

His departure has left a huge hole in the club’s midfield options and is yet to be addressed with a replacement.

Plenty of rumours flew around this summer but a signing was never made, meaning January could prove big.

According to a recent report from Fichajes, the Reds are eyeing up a new target in the form of Valencia’s Carlos Soler.

The Spanish midfielder has been in fine form for the La Liga club after graduating through their youth system.

Now, at 24-years-old, Soler has become an integral part of Los murciélagos’ success over the last few seasons.

With a current market value of £36million, a deal for Soler would no doubt come at a cost for the club.

Not only that but with them reportedly targeting a winter move for the player, his form at the time cannot be known.

Of course, the Reds could swoop in at a key time and secure a great deal for a player in hot form.

Either way, knowing Jurgen Klopp and the way he operates with new signings, Soler would not start instantly.

His role and ability make him a fine replacement for Wijnaldum, with him starting this season very well.

From their first three games, Soler has managed three goals, with him looking a great player for Liverpool to target.
