Liverpool release new Nike third kit for 2021/22 season inspired by ‘European nights’

This morning has finally seen the release of the club’s new Nike third kit for the Premier League season.

Yesterday the club’s Twitter account teased a promotional video of the kit, stating it’s announce for this morning.

Now, the club has again taken to Twitter to officially release the kit, which is now available to order.

As you can see from the video below, the kit is what we expected from the Footy Headlines leaks a few days ago…

The kit features a yellow template, with a red and yellow chequered collar and cuffs on the sleeves.

According to the club, the idea behind the kit is inspired by the energy and passion of the Kop on European nights.

As reported by journalist DaveOCKOP on Twitter, it takes main inspiration from the 1977 European Cup final…

It certainly is a bold move from Nike and the club with them going back towards a yellow kit.

The club has sported them in the past, most recently by Warrior back in the 2014/15 season.

It is great to see Nike trying to take inspiration from the club’s heritage and past with nods such as this.

However, it is obvious that despite their colour scheme, it fits into the templates used for other Nike third kits this season.

Of course, this may come as a disappointment to many Liverpool fans as it takes away from the uniqueness.

Hopefully, we will see the Reds perform their best in the kit, with them now completing their ensemble for the 2021/22 season.
