Virals: Liverpool ‘most interested’ in Leicester City star Youri Tielemans

Liverpool have been named amongst the ‘most interested’ clubs in signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The Reds have been extensively linked with a move for the 24-year-old previously and could eventually make a sensational swoop for the Belgian.

Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also believed to be in the running as Arsenal join the race to sign the highly-rated ace.

According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool are still in contention for the capture.

The report claims that the 47-cap Belgium star would likely cost around €40milion (£33.5million).

This season Tielemans – once described as ‘fantastic’ by Emile Heskey – has scored six times and provided three assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.

Having previously knocked incessantly on the door of the Premier League top four, this term it would appear qualification for the UEFA Champions League is unlikely for the Foxes.

This could lead to the likes of Tielemans seeking pastures new as the Belgian’s performances continue to merit a bigger stage.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options are rich in numbers, too many of those in situ are regular absent through injury and are in line for replacement.

With the ever-reliable Gini Wijnaldum in the rearview mirror and James Milner likely to retire, bringing the Leicester City star to Anfield would be a superb move.

Valued at 49.5million and under contract at the King Power Stadium until 2023 (Transfermarkt), getting the deal done for anything close to the mooted £33.5million fee is a no-brainer.
