Pundit labels Liverpool star Thiago as ‘unbelievable’

Former Leeds United striker Lucy Ward has labelled Liverpool midfielder Thiago as an ‘unbelievable’ operator.

The 30-year-old Spaniard returned to Jurgen Klopp’s side as the Reds qualified beyond Inter Milan despite a 1-0 UEFA Champions League defeat.

Perhaps the most coveted player in the Anfield squad, the Spaniard has proven to be a top-level performer time and time again.

Speaking during BT Sport’s coverage last night (March 8, 2022), Ward spoke glowingly about Thiago’s influence on the side.

Thiago. Unbelievable. Everything he does is for the benefit of his teammates. He just changes the tempo of any game in a second.

The 46-cap Spain star earned a 6.60 Sofascore rating for a display boasting 53 accurate passes, two tackles and two interceptions.

So far this season, Thiago has scored twice and provided one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions.

Albeit at times it was noticeably the Spaniard’s first outing for a number of weeks, the quality of the £19.8million valued ace was clear for all to see.

Many will point to the importance of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho to Klopp’s chances of adding more trophies to the cabinet this season. However, Thiago’s ability to control big matches shouldn’t be underestimated.

Having already missed 23 games through injury and illness this season, Liverpool supporters will hope that those woes are now over for the 2021/22 campaign at least.
