Virals: Jurgen Klopp suggests Thiago ‘maybe’ fit for UCL clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Thiago ‘maybe’ available for next week’s UEFA Champions League clash.

The Reds welcome Inter Milan to Anfield for the second leg of their last 16 encounter with a 2-0 advantage and could have the 30-year-old back in contention following a tight hamstring issue.

Thiago was seen in tears on the bench having had to pull out of the Carabao Cup final lineup.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup fifth-round tie with Norwich City, Klopp confirmed that the midfielder would miss the match and perhaps the visit of West Ham on the weekend.

Liverpool will also likely be without Roberto Firmino after the Brazilian was ruled out of the successful Wembley showpiece against Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Portuguese forward Diogo Jota could feature from the start having made a return from an ankle ligament injury.

This was always going to be a game whereby Thiago would feature on the periphery at best.

However, having the Spain 46-cap ace back for the challenges ahead will be a huge boost to Klopp’s side.

A serial winner throughout an illustrious career, Thiago is pivotal to helping the Reds in their attempts to lift yet more silverware this season.

For this contest, the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Divock Origi and Curtis Jones could be handed a rare opportunity to start.
