Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has labelled the Liverpool attacking department as an ‘absolute joke’.
This comes as the Reds were handed a boost in the Premier League title race when Manchester City were held 0-0 by Crystal Palace.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are now four points behind the leaders with a game in hand to be played against Arsenal this week.
Speaking about the title race during Sky Sports on Monday Night Football (March 14), Neville admitted that he had been proven wrong.
You think about where they were, AFCON, Salah and Mane going away for a month, I thought that City would be out of sight. You thought City were going to win the league at a canter and they’ve not done. That’s credit to Liverpool, credit to the players, the signing of Diaz in January and the fact they’ve got a great manager who is able to drag that level of performance out of them week in week out. I wouldn’t say it’s 50/50, Man City do just edge it. But Liverpool have got five players up front who are an absolute joke. And Diaz, saw him for the first time live at the Carabao Cup final and I couldn’t believe what I was watching for a player who had just entered English football. He’s absolutely sensational.
At present, Liverpool boasts the top three goalscorers in the league with Mohamed Salah leading the way on 20 goals ahead of Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota both on 12.

As the run-in heats up, Klopp will be relishing the chance to utilise all the options at his disposal, including Roberto Firmino, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi as well as the fab four.
Whilst the Colombian winger Diaz has undoubtedly added an x-factor to an already top-class attacking stock, it’s going to require each and every star in order to overhaul City.
Not many would’ve backed the Reds for title glory at any stage of this season, let’s hope they can all be proven wildly inaccurate.
