Liverpool are reportedly one of a number of clubs ‘waiting’ on highly-rated Barcelona starlet Gavi.

The 17-year-old midfielder is currently in contract negotiations at Camp Nou but as yet there has been no new deal.

Already a regular for both club and country, the Spanish wonderkid has attracted the attention of Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and the Reds.

That’s according to a report from Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, as cited by Barça Universal on Twitter.

The report claims that the Anfield club may look towards activating a £41.8million release clause before the fee jumps to £83.6million after June 30.

This season Gavi – hailed as ‘spectacular’ by Xavi – has scored twice and provided five assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £36million and under contract in Spain until 2023 at present (Transfermarkt), signing the teenage sensation for the mooted fee would be a superb piece of business.

Possessing a wide range of impressive attributes despite a tender age, Jurgen Klopp would undoubtedly jump at the chance to add Gavi to the Anfield squad.

Predominantly a central midfielder with the capability of operating in more advanced positions, this would be a no-brainer for the Reds.
