Liverpool are reportedly set to make a summer move for Juventus star Khephren Thuram, with the Serie A giants considering the potential of putting the French midfielder up for sale.
With the 2025/26 season set to reach its conclusion very soon, a lot of the off-field talk involving Premier League clubs far and wide is beginning to centre on who could join each outfit during what is set to be a bumper summer transfer window.
Liverpool will surely be busy once more, after dropping £446m on new talents last summer, with the news that Mohamed Salah will walk away from Anfield intensifying the need for some exciting attacking recruits.
Already, the reigning Premier League champions have been linked with a move for Juventus ace Francisco Conceição, alongside more speculative talk that they could possibly break the bank to land Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise.
A new rumour has now emerged linking Liverpool with a different Juventus face in Khephren Thuram, with a tussle between Arne Slot’s men and Manchester United potentially coming to the surface for the Old Lady number 19, as we head towards the off-season.
Liverpool show interest in Thuram
As per reports from Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, both the Reds and their arch rivals are keen on the idea of bringing Thuram to England.
It’s stated that Luciano Spalletti’s side could be tempted to offload Thuram in the summer, with extra cash needed if they don’t qualify for the Champions League, at the close of the current Serie A campaign.
This is where Liverpool and the Red Devils come into the story, with Liverpool noted as being long-term admirers of the versatile midfielder, while United are desperate for some additional midfield bodies, as Casemiro will walk away from Old Trafford imminently.
It remains to be seen how much the 25-year-old would be available for, with a £39m price tag previously floating about, when Liverpool have been linked before.
The former AS Monaco man might not have the most jaw-dropping numbers next to his name at first glance, with only eight goals and 12 assists picked up from 89 Juventus appearances.
But, he will stick out to Slot for his ability to line up in a whole host of positions, if he were to join, with the Dutchman already in love with the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, who can fill in as a full-back, away from his standard midfield duties.
Thuram’s career numbers by position:
| Position | Games | Goals | Assists |
| CM | 136 | 7 | 13 |
| DM | 88 | 9 | 11 |
| LM | 5 | 0 | 0 |
| LW | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Indeed, on the books of former club Nice, Thuram lined up as a defensive anchor, a standard central midfielder, and as a left winger, with Slot’s midfield options no doubt enhanced by the 25-year-old’s arrival.
Further capable of getting stuck in, with 4.1 duels won on average this season in Serie A, away from his four goal contributions, this has all the makings of being a signing that initially slips under the radar, but could be a very impressive buy in the long run.
Expect United to put up a fight, though, with Thuram possibly faced with a crossroads decision as to whether he should call Manchester his next home or Merseyside.
