Liverpool are considering a major summer move for Juventus star Francisco Conceição, as the Anfield hierarchy searches far and wide for an immediate Mohamed Salah replacement.
The hunt is already on for Arne Slot‘s men, as they look to try and replace the irreplaceable in Salah, with the news now hitting that the one-of-a-kind Egyptian will be departing Anfield in the summer.
With a staggering 255 goals under his belt for the Reds, the reigning Premier League champions will have to splash the cash to try and find an adequate replacement.
Already, the rumour mill has suggested that Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise is on their shortlist to fill the void when the Reds icon exits, with Olise up to a crazy 16 goals and 27 assists in all competitions this season for the Bavarian giants.
Other suggestions have been made, with TalkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist tipping Liverpool to go in for West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen, who knows the Premier League like the back of his thumb, with 113 goal contributions picked up for the Hammers in the intense division.
A new report has suggested a fresh name, as well, as the Merseyside giants potentially dip their toes into the Serie A market, to freshen up their attacking personnel.
Liverpool’s reported interest in Conceição
According to a new transfer report from Football Transfers, Liverpool is allegedly keeping close tabs on Conceição as a possible successor to Salah.
The report states that Olise is a dream option for the powers that be at Anfield, but a move will, no doubt, prove to be tricky.
This is where the Portuguese trickster comes in, with the Reds cited as definitely holding interest in a star who would likely be more affordable than the ex-Crystal Palace attacker, having cost Juventus around the £27m mark only last year to pick up from Porto.
Much like Salah in his Anfield prime, Conceição has managed to score some vital goals for the Old Lady in recent times, including this superbly taken strike under pressure, which broke the deadlock against Inter Milan in February.
He boasts only 11 goals and nine assists overall for Juventus from 74 appearances, but this would be a purchase with the future in mind, as the Reds hunt down a long-term Salah replacement.
With the number seven also capable of playing as a number ten, this would gift Slot a very versatile option in the attacking areas, to complement the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz, who are equally malleable.
While on international duty ahead of Portugal’s friendlies against Mexico (March 28) and the USA (March 31), Conceição was directly asked about the reported £52m interest from the Premier League side. He kept things respectful toward his current club:
“I know people talk about [Liverpool] being a great club, but I play for a big club where I’m happy. Right now, I’m only focused on these two games with the national team, and then I’ll concentrate on the final stretch of the championship to help my club as much as possible.”
Conceição‘s goals and assists for Juventus by position:
| Position | Games | Goals | Assists |
| RW | 49 | 5 | 7 |
| SS | 19 | 5 | 2 |
| AM | 4 | 0 | 0 |
The report does state that several big clubs are keeping an eye on the 13-time Portugal international, but the Reds could possibly push Federico Chiesa back to his native Italy, as a way to try and win Conceição.
Noted as still being keen on Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola, too, it will really be fascinating to see who Liverpool chooses as their statement addition in attack, as the Reds grow used to a reality without Salah leading the line.
