“It was tough”: Mac Allister on hair loss and his new shaved look

Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister has opened up about his new shaved head and future hair-transplant plans, while on international duty with Argentina.

The international break feels as if it has been going on for quite some time now, with the Reds’ last competitive fixture before the break, a disappointing 2-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Thankfully, a move away from domestic action, to playing for their respective nations, has been a breath of fresh air for some, with both Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz impressing in particular for France and Germany.

Ekitike would score against Brazil during the break, after limping off during the early stages of that defeat on the South Coast.

Moreover, Wirtz would steal his thunder by amassing a ridiculous two goals and two assists in just one game, as Germany beat Switzerland 4-3 in an action-packed friendly clash.

For others, it has been a slightly more disrupted break.

Indeed, Alexis Mac Allister has had to grow used to multiple cancellations out on international duty with Argentina, as their Finalissima showdown with Spain was cancelled, alongside their friendly encounter with Qatar.

Unexpectedly, his haircut situation has dominated a lot of the conversations, due to the action being halted abruptly, although Argentina have faced Mauritania in a one-off friendly contest.

Donning a new shaved head look in Lionel Scaloni’s camp, Mac Allister has now candidly opened up about his fresh hairstyle and the plans for a hair transplant, after the World Cup.

Mac Allister’s comments about his new hairdo

Mac Allister didn’t let his new hairdo do all the talking against Mauritania, though, as the 27-year-old trudged off at the end of the friendly workout with a near spotless 98% pass accuracy average.

He will, of course, want to let his football do the talking when back at Anfield, too, as Arne Slot’s men strive to finish inside the coveted Champions League spots in the Premier League.

But, the ex-Brighton midfielder was in humorous spirits when talking about his drastic change of look, post the 2-1 victory over Mauritania.

He said: “I was a bald guy with hair, and now I’m a bald guy with a bald head.

“I had to go down fighting; things were getting tough. I’ve said I did it for my dad, but I think it’s more for my daughter.

“We’ll see if we can plant a bit more after the World Cup. Right now, time is a bit of a constraint. But I’m really happy, I feel like I’m better off than before. Let’s see if there’s a little sponsorship deal… Heh.”

For now, the short-term fix seems to be this new “bald head” look, as Mac Allister puts it, with a hair transplant not off the cards after the upcoming World Cup.

This isn’t the first time Liverpool has been rocked by a sudden hair transformation, with Dominik Szoboszlai lining up for the Reds’ clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of March with an eye-catching cornrows look.

Thankfully, the Hungarian has been more known for his classy displays this season than this one-off change of appearance, with a stunning 12 goals and eight assists picked up in all competitions.

Mac Allister has a respectable ten-goal contributions next to his name, as he tries to guide Liverpool into the top four in the Premier League, alongside all his teammates, away from anything else catching the eye.
