Liverpool vs PSG: TV Channel, Kick-off Time & How to Watch

Anfield awaits another European miracle tonight as Liverpool hosts Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final. Trailing 2–0 after a difficult night at the Parc des Princes, Arne Slot’s side must summon the famous “Anfield roar” to overturn the deficit against Luis Enrique’s clinical outfit.

With goals from Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia giving the Parisians a commanding edge, the Reds face a steep climb to keep their semi-final dreams alive.

Arne Slot‘s side will have their work cut out for them attempting to overturn the 2-0 first-leg loss at the Parc Des Princes, as the Premier League side were comfortably beaten at the hands of the Ligue 1 giants.

Indeed, the Reds only registered three attempts on the PSG goal all evening, but they have since bounced back from this disappointing performance in attack in the French capital, with a straightforward 2-0 victory over Fulham in Premier League action.

It remains to be seen what version of Slot’s men comes to the fore at Anfield, as another insipid performance up top would almost certainly see their Champions League adventure end at this stage.

Here is everything you need to know as Liverpool attempts to pull off a magical comeback, while PSG tries to go in for the kill.

How to watch

This second leg showdown at Anfield will be shown live on Amazon Prime Video, with the fixture kicking off at 8 pm GMT.

The pre-match build-up will be shown from 6:30 pm GMT.

Recent form

Liverpool (home side)

It’s been a turbulent period for the Anfield faithful, as Liverpool’s trademark consistency has seemingly vanished under the weight of a grueling spring schedule.

The optimism of earlier in the campaign has been replaced by anxiety, with the Reds being put through the emotional wringer during a dip in form that threatened to derail their entire season.

Heading into their recent 2-0 Premier League victory over Fulham, the atmosphere on Merseyside was tense.

Arne Slot’s side arrived into the fixture having suffered three consecutive defeats across all competitions a run that featured a demoralising 4–0 loss to Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup and a humbling 2–0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Thankfully, back on home soil against Marco Silva’s Cottagers, Liverpool put in a workmanlike display, as Rio Nguhoma and Mohamed Salah scored the goals to comfortably ease past the visitors from West London.

They’ll need to be a little more daring to get the better of PSG, though, with other recent wins also seeing them overcome Galatasaray 4-0 in the last round of Europe’s illustrious competition.

PSG (away side)

PSG are arguably one of the most entertaining sides you can feast your eyes on, when looking across Europe.

Indeed, across their last five matches, Enrique and Co. have made light work of several different opponents, with an 8-2 aggregate victory over Chelsea in the last 16 stages of the Champions League sticking out.

Alongside this two-leg whitewash, PSG have also trounced both Nice and Toulouse 4-0 and 3-1 in recent Ligue 1 encounters, alongside controlling proceedings from minute one in their first leg success over the Reds.

Liverpool will have to put in a superhuman effort from the second the first leg starts, to pull off an unbelievable turnaround, with PSG also holding a psychological edge, having won on penalties the last time the two sides faced each other at Anfield.

Head-to-head results

Liverpool and PSG have faced each other multiple times over the years, with the French side just bettering the Reds in their head-to-head record.

Indeed, that 2-0 win at the Parc Des Princes now means PSG have won four of the seven meetings between the two teams, with Liverpool narrowly coming up short on three victories.

What has been said

Arne Slot (Liverpool):

Slot answered an onslaught of questions, ahead of Liverpool’s crucial second leg showdown against Enrique’s men.

The Dutchman likely surprised those watching when discussing about the fascinating tactical battle that lies ahead, with the ex-Feyenoord boss stating that he won’t change things up too wildly, from the uninspiring 2-0 defeat.

He said: “If you change system, the focus is usually on the system and maybe not on what the approach is not so different tomorrow to that in Paris. I never put a team out to put out a low block for 90 minutes.

We tried to press them high on multiple moments but seven or eight times they ended up on goal.

The approach will be take the risk but to get the ball off them, you need to press them and we saw how difficult it is to press them. But that was the last season when Anfield made a big different and I expect it to tomorrow.”

Regardless of whatever tactical tussle ensues, Slot has also stated that the atmosphere of the Liverpool home masses will be crucial in trying to pull off a monumental comeback.

He further said: “Their players think they know what is coming up and it’s up to Anfield to find a next level.

That won’t be easy as the atmosphere that night was incredible. But I think our fans are up for it to make it louder. First of all they will expect a better performance from us. Our fans, I can trust them to be even louder than last season.”

Luis Enrique (PSG):

Enrique also took some questions in the build-up to the clash on Merseyside, with the Spaniard looking to pick up another against the Reds, from the PSG dug-out.

Despite the two-goal advantage strengthening his chances of doing just that, he has acknowledged that it will be a “difficult” match to navigate.

He said: “It’s going to be difficult. If you analyse the matches we played last year, first match was similar in the conditions and the situations if not the result. In the second leg it was so different. It’s difficult to have control when they press all the time.

They need to score goals which means they have to take risks. There’s going to be a lot of space. We love to manage the ball but we can attack also with spaces and we love counter-attacks also. It’s one of the best things we have.”

He could also be set to play Bradley Barcola in some capacity to catch the Reds’ defence off-guard, with the tricky Frenchman fighting back from injury, to be in contention to feature at Anfield.

Enrique offered some clarity on the injury situation, by stating: “We are going to have to see after training. Each time we have a player coming back from injury it’s always good news.

He’s been out three weeks and has been working hard to get back and we’ll have to see how he’s feeling today. It’s important for us to get players back.”
