Alisson hails Leicester game as “decisive”

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has stressed the importance of the club’s clash with Leicester in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

Alisson says that it is a decisive moment for the Reds, as they come up against the side currently second in the table – 10 points behind them.

The Reds also have a game in-hand on the Foxes, due to being involved in the Club World Cup over the weekend.

As quoted by GOAL, Alisson said this:

There’s a big moment and decisive moment arriving for us in the Premier League and you need to stay focused on the moment. You cannot think on the long [term].

You just need to look for what you have in front of you to not miss the moment, to not miss the chances that you have. If you want to win the Premier League, you need to try to win every game and I think against Leicester will be the same.

They have a great team. They are in a good moment and we just need to give our best on the pitch to try to beat them.

Leicester are, as it stands, Liverpool’s closest title challenges in the Premier League. It makes sense that Liverpool see this is a huge game, as Alisson clearly does, and they need to be at their best to get anything from the match.

Although Manchester City were able to beat Leicester 3-1 last weekend, it could inspire the Foxes to produce a top performance against Liverpool to make amends for their display. Liverpool need to keep a close eye on the likes of Jamie Vardy and James Maddison to avoid dropping any points.
