Chelsea and Man United considered strong candidates to sign Werner

Chelsea and Manchester United are both strong candidates to sign Timo Werner this summer, according to Sport1.

The two Premier League clubs are set to rival Liverpool in moving for the RB Leipzig striker.

The Reds have been continually linked with Werner this season, with the German scoring 27 goals in all competitions.

The striker has been a huge success throughout his time in the Bundesliga, breaking goal-scoring and appearance records during his rise to the top.

Although it would be ideal for Liverpool to have an easy path to sign Werner, I still don’t think they should be overly concerned by Chelsea and United’s interest.

The 24-year-old has flirted with the Reds in recent weeks, and there are so many things working in their favour over their rivals.

For starters, the guarantee of Champions League football is a big positive, while the lure of playing under Jurgen Klopp may also be great, given his reputation as arguably the world’s best manager currently. Chelsea are currently fourth, but with the season currently suspended, it remains unclear how the table may finish.

Werner could also feel that there is a greater opportunity to win silverware at Anfield, as Klopp’s men lie on the verge of both Champions League and Premier League glory in the space of around a year.

Granted, the striker might be more of a regular starter at Chelsea and United, but I still think he would be considered a key man at Liverpool if he made the move, dovetailing with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
