A closer look at the players being linked with moves to Liverpool

There have been plenty of players linked with summer moves to Liverpool as of late, but which of them should the Reds be going after?

It has been argued in the past few years that Liverpool lack strength in depth across the board, which I still think is the case. However, Jurgen Klopp seems to surprise a lot of people in the way he does his transfer business, he trusts his players severely, and will only spend the money if the right player comes along at the right price.

With a top-four finish looking likely, the Reds boss will no doubt be looking to strengthen his talented squad in key areas this summer.

It looks certain that Liverpool’s number two Simon Mignolet will be leaving Anfield this summer after losing his place to German keeper Lloris Karius. A number of errors and a lack of leadership when defending his area have probably cost him his job with the Reds.

Roma and Brazil’s Alisson looks like Klopp’s first choice after a number fn fantastic performances this season. The Reds seem extremely likely to go in for him, but there looks a slight stumbling block at the moment due to the fee that Roma are requesting for their number one.Paolo Bruno/Getty Images Sport

With Emre Can’s departure looking extremely likely this summer, the Merseyside club will be eager to add some world-class options to their midfield too. With Naby Keita already signed, Liverpool will likely be looking to add a number six to the squad to replace the German.

Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who looks likely to leave the Serie A club this summer, is believed to be Klopp’s first choice. The Mirror this week have suggested that Liverpool are favourites to sign the Italian and that they look set to beat Manchester United and Arsenal to his signature. It would be some coup if this deal is sanctioned, but Napoli won’t let him leave on a cheap, that is for sure.

Another player who has been mentioned this week is Leicester city midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, After an excellent season with the Foxes, the Nigerian has become hot property and a number of clubs look set to battle it out for the signing of the young midfielder.

It was reported this week that Liverpool were extremely interested in signing him if a fee could be agreed, but the noises coming from Leicester suggest that it’s going to take an extremely high fee to get the midfield sensation.

With the likes of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridgel looking like their days are up at Anfield Klopp will be keeping a close eye on any striking options who become available.

The forward being linked to the Reds is Timo Werner. The classy young German forward seems set to leave RB Leipzig this summer to chase his dreams of winning trophies. It was reported this week that the Reds were interested in bringing the striker to Anfield, to compete with the excellent Roberto Firmino.Francesco Pecoraro/Getty Images Sport

Another player who interests me is Fulham’s left back Ryan Sessegnon. The Reds were heavily linked with the 18-year-old last year but he wanted to stay at Fulham to learn his trade before progressing. He has scored 14 goals this season, already doubling his tally from last season.

Alberto Moreno seems destined for the exit door after some poor performances meant that he lost his spot to Andrew Robertson and the Scottish international has firmly established himself as first-choice.

Sessegnon could be an ideal replacement for Moreno in the squad but it’s looking unlikely that the Fulham star will be at Anfield next year.
