Conor Coady admits it was easy decision to leave Liverpool

Former Liverpool youngster Conor Coady has admitted it was an easy decision to leave the Reds, as he wanted to play first team football.

The defender, who is now thriving in the Premier League with newly promoted Wolves, told The Times that he had no regrets about leaving his boyhood side, and the decision did not trouble him much.

Do you know what, it wasn’t as hard as people might think.

“I’d been on loan to Sheffield United, which was a fantastic loan move for me. I played 50 games. I didn’t really want to come back and play under-23s.

I had some brilliant footballers in front of me and it was going to be so, so hard. At the time, I thought to myself, ‘I’ve been here all my life,’ but I just wanted to play football.

Coady would join Sheffield United on loan in 2013, going on to make over 50 appearances, before moving to Huddersfield town in 2014.

He would join Wolves a year after, and was instrumental in their promotion campaign last season, in which the Black Country side dominated the Championship.

The former Liverpool man has been touted with a potential call up to the senior side, but Coady admitted that he hasn’t really put any thought into it.

I’ve not really thought about it, and I won’t think about it.

I’m really enjoying my football at the minute, and I’ll never put something in my head that I don’t know if it’s going to happen or not.

I’m really enjoying being part of this club and moving forward with this club as much as possible.
