As reported earlier today, Liverpool are expected to make a bid to sign Red Bull Salzburg forward Takumi Minamino and according to one very reliable source, the deal is “highly likely” to go through.
James Pearce, formerly of The Liverpool Echo, now at The Athletic, reports that he expects the Japanese star to move to Anfield in January.
The 24-year-old has been on Liverpool’s radar for a while and Pearce reports that interest in him from clubs in England, Germany and Italy has led to the Reds deciding to make a move for him when the January transfer window opens.
Liverpool are also keen to complete the deal as they think that the £7.25m release clause in Minamino’s contract makes him a bargain signing as they value him at over double that amount.

Minamino caught the eye when he played against Liverpool in the Champions League, especially at Anfield, and for £7.25m, signing him is pretty much a no-brainer.
With Adam Lallana looking likely to leave Liverpool in the summer, Minamino can come in as a replacement and give Liverpool another excellent attacking option.
