It may only be the first preseason action for the Reds and the quality of Chester may cloud assessment but Liverpool’ new campaign is truly underway and began with a bang. Liverpool visited Swansway Stadium and cruised past the home side 7-0.
As in previous preseasons, Jurgen clop opted to split the squad with two completely different sides for each half. The first half side looked bright but took some time to settle and find their rhythm, while the second half side clicked more quickly and mopped up with class and quality.
Overall, Klopp had to be reasonably pleased with what he saw for the first competitive action. With obvious players still missing, this is proved a genuine chance to see who would grab at their chances and hit the ground running, as well as how much time others may need to adjust. In both cases, there were nothing but positives on display in Chester.
