Four Findings: Leicester City 0-4 Liverpool

Fresh from winning the Club World Cup, the Reds renewed their league-leading title chase.

Against Leicester City, Liverpool swatted aside the second-place Foxes 4-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Any notion that fatigue might be affecting this side should summarily be dismissed.

This was a completely dominating performance from start to finish. The Reds could easily have been three goals to the good within the first 10 minutes with a little luck.

Yet, there was no need for fortune once Liverpool leapt into the lead.

Roberto Firmino finished a sumptuous Trent Alexander-Arnold cross in the 31st minute to finally break the deadlock.

Amazingly, the 1-0 scoreline would sustain for another 40 minutes as it looked as if Liverpool might have to grind out a narrow win.

Then in the 71st minute, centre-back Caglar Soyuncu strangely handled the ball. Referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot without reservation and James Milner blew the match open with his precise penalty.

Three minutes later, Alexander-Arnold drove a low cross into Firmino who deftly killed and slotted it in the upper-right corner for his second goal.

Still, the rout was not complete until Alexander-Arnold raced forward on a break in the 78th minute to slam a finish into the bottom left corner to end the demolition.

To think that Liverpool would score four goals with none from Sadio Mané or Mo Salah. Liverpool now lead the league by 13 points and keep getting stronger.

Here are four findings from the match.
