Liverpool 7-0 Spartak Moscow: Four findings

If there were any doubts about Liverpool advancing to the knockout stages, they were promptly swept aside in the first 20 minutes of their final group game midweek Champions League match. At an Anfield alive with the thrill of European delights, Liverpool dismantled Spartak Moscow 7-0.

It was a dream start for the Reds when Mo Salah was pulled down for a penalty in the early going. Not content to rest on the slim lead, Liverpool made their intentions clear with another at 15 minutes and third in the 19th minute. Yet this would be no Sevilla surrender. The Reds ran riot against the Russians.

Goals, goals and goals–Liverpool lashed in three in the first half and four to follow in the second. This was a performance even better than the last time they hung seven on an opponent, Maribor. With the manager starting possibly the strongest side at his disposal to ensure advancement, the players proved why his confidence should have been so steadfast.

The early goal settled the side but the Reds always looked like putting Moscow to the sword at home.

Here are four findings from the match.
