Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Thursday evening confirmed what had been inevitable for months; that Liverpool were the Premier League champions.
The Reds simultaneously, in a strange juxtaposition, became the earliest team to win the title in terms of games remaining, but also the latest team to be crowned champions in terms of the day of the year after the near three-month delay in action due to the pandemic.
