Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has stated that his fellow German, Jurgen Klopp, would be a “great fit at Liverpool”, as per the Mirror.
Liverpool lost 3-1 to rivals Manchester United on Saturday and the pressure on Brendan Rodgers is building, especially with the amount of money that they have spent in recent years; spending which has yet to bring any silverware to Anfield.
Some Reds fans are starting to turn against the Northern Irish manager, however, the owners, FSG, don’t seem to be looking to replace him as of yet, having given him a hefty transfer budget this summer.
They allowed him to spend around £80m on players during the transfer window.
Klopp is currently taking a break from the game; he’s on a self-imposed sabbatical having left Borussia Dortmund earlier this year.
The 48-year-old was the manager of Dortmund for seven years and won many admirers for the way his team played and the success they achieved, both domestically and in Europe.
Didi Hamann, the former Liverpool midfielder, told Sky Germany:
“The pressure in Liverpool gets bigger. The fans are on the barricades. But the coach is backed by the club, and anyway the question is – would Klopp move there during the season?
Had they asked before the season, I am 99 per cent sure that he would have joined them.
“Many people say that he will take over Bayern on July 1, 2016, but I don’t know whether he’s a fit there. He’d be a great fit at Liverpool.”
Liverpool face Bordeaux on Thursday in the Europa League before hosting Norwich City on Sunday, and the Reds are going to have to win both games if Rodgers wants to begin the process of getting some fans back on his side.
