Henderson could miss Arsenal

After making a thunderous start to the season, it now looks touch-and-go as to whether Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will miss next week’s crucial tie with Arsenal to a recurring foot injury, as reported by Andy Hunter of the Guardian.

Henderson, who was made captain of the club this summer had initially started the season well; his partnership with James Milner beginning to show why Brendan Rodgers had wanted to sign the former City player for so long.

However, the Liverpool manager said on Monday night that the England midfielder had been playing through the pain barrier, having injections in the injured foot to allow him to play a part in the season’s opening games.

Liverpool had only just started the second half when their new skipper was forced to leave the field after the injury flared up, meaning he could no longer take part in the game.

Options are slim on the ground for Rodgers, who has Joe Allen on the treatment table and Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva out-of-favour and possibly on his way out of the club.

It is possible that Lallana will fill a void in that part of the field, yet Andy Hunter says it is more likely that Emre Can will partner James Milner if Henderson does not make the trip to the Emirates Stadium next Monday.
