On this day in 2011, Jordan Henderson put pen to paper and joined Liverpool from Sunderland.
The midfielder arrived in a deal believed to have been worth £20 million after impressing for the Black Cats, with the then-20-year-old emerging as one of the brightest young English talents around.
Henderson has come in for his fair share of criticism during the eight years he has spent at Anfield, but in the past season, he has shown strength, character and resilience to cement himself as a leader of an exciting Liverpool team.
He enjoyed a purple patch of form towards the end of last season and deservedly lifted the Champions League trophy following the Reds’ win in Madrid against Tottenham Hotspur.
There have been ups and downs and highs and lows along the way, but Henderson will be happy with how his time at Liverpool has panned out.
