Liverpool face Everton in the FA Cup third round this Sunday afternoon and most of the talk in the build-up to the game relates to Jurgen Klopp’s team selection.
The German has often played weakened teams in the FA Cup third round and did exactly that last year as an understrength Liverpool were knocked out by Wolves as they lost 2-1 away from home.
With that being said, Klopp picked a relatively strong team against Everton in the cup back in January 2018 and he could possibly do the same on Sunday.
However, the ever-reliable James Pearce had a Q&A with fans on The Athletic website on Friday afternoon and when asked what he is expecting in terms of Liverpool’s starting XI, he said:
I expect Takumi Minamino to start vs Everton, and the same with Divock Origi, Harvey Elliott, Nat Phillips, Neco Williams and Curtis Jones.

Obviously, Pearce won’t be 100% sure of Klopp’s plans but he has likely acquired some bits of information that have led to him expecting a weakened team.
There’ll be plenty of fans who understand that decision as Klopp looks to rest his first-team stars ahead of a title challenge and an attempt to reclaim the Champions League.
However, for some, the thought of losing to Everton will be unbearable and there’ll certainly be fans, myself included, who will be disappointed if Klopp does play a heavily rotated side in the Merseyside derby.
