Liverpool defender Joe Gomez’s season could be over due to a serious knee injury sustained on international duty.
The teenager hobbled off during England’s Under-21 victory over Kazakhstan on Tuesday night, and the problem is more serious than it was initially thought, according to Dominic King of the Daily Mail.
Gomez, who signed for the Reds from Charlton Athletic during the summer, is awaiting the results of a series of scans, but the Mail believe that he has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.

If that is the case, the 18-year-old will miss six to nine months of action.
With Liverpool short of options at left-back – which is where Gomez has spent the majority of his time on the pitch in the early stages of the season – new manager Jurgen Klopp now faces a headache in that position, with only Jose Enrique providing the backup for Alberto Moreno.
The club are yet to comment, but King has said that an announcement is expected within 24 hours.
