As we are now all aware, the disappointing news that Liverpool defender Joe Gomez will miss the rest of the domestic campaign broke yesterday evening, after the 18-year-old damaged his anterior cruciate ligament whilst on England Under-21 duty.
With around 10 minutes to go in England’s 3-0 win over Kazakhstan’s Under-21s side, the defender was replaced and his international manager Gareth Southgate said it was “nothing too serious”.
However after further assessment, it now looks like we won’t see the youngster in a red shirt again until next season.
It now seems as though Spaniard Alberto Moreno will occupy the left-back spot for some time. But in Gomez’s absence, is there a chance for another young Liverpool defender to prove themselves to new boss Jurgen Klopp?
