After watching Manchester United’s dramatic 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain last night, a thought hit me. Liverpool need to do exactly the same.
Liverpool leave Anfield with a 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich, meaning it’s all to play for at the Allianz Arena and while the Reds may have the advantage when it comes to the impact their goals will have, they’ll be gutted not to have won at home. Similar to United.
With that being said, Liverpool need to try and emulate the kind of passion and energy that United showed last night in order to win the tie.
United were up against stellar odds and managed to pull through, Liverpool might be up against lesser odds but the task is still just as difficult.
The Allianz Arena is a difficult place for most teams, especially on a Champions League night, Liverpool need to keep their cool and show the determination that may have been lacking from recent games against Manchester United and Everton.
If you look at United’s performance last night, they were on the back-foot for the majority of the game, but when the chances came they kept their composure and were clinical in front of goal.
The Reds should follow that performance and be prepared for a tough fight, be ready to defend and strike when the chances come, something they have struggled to do recently.
Mohamed Salah, especially, needs to find his clinical finishing that seems to have gone missing in the big games and he needs to be backed up by Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino at their best.

If the front three don’t perform it’ll be hard to see where the goals will be coming from. If the defence can do their job, Liverpool will only really need one goal, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
As hard as it is to admit, as a Liverpool fan, United’s win last night was an exciting statement for English football in the big European league. With Tottenham, United and almost City (they currently lead Schalke 3-2) already into the quarter-finals, it would be great for Liverpool to join them.
