Liverpool supporters have been showing their love for Jordan Henderson on social media, following his message to Virgil van Dijk.
Saturday’s Merseyside derby draw with Everton proved to be one of the most controversial of all time, as the Reds left Goodison Park feeling absolutely robbed.
Henderson’s seemingly onside goal in the dying seconds was ruled out for offside against Sadio Mane by VAR, but that was only half of the story.
Sadly, Van Dijk’s season may have been ended after a dreadful tackle by Jordan Pickford left the Liverpool centre-back with an ACL injury.
Although Pickford somehow wasn’t sent-off, Richarlison was late on in the game, having produced a similarly awful challenge on Thiago.
There was a huge sense of injustice after the game – the only crumb of comfort to take was that Liverpool had drawn the game 2-2, rather than lost it.
Van Dijk’s injury was the most damaging thing to come out of the match, though, with the Reds now having to make do without arguably their most important player for many months.
Endless messages have been sent to the Dutchman, but Henderson’s was particularly touching, with the Liverpool skipper posting the following on Twitter:
The comeback is always stronger than the setback…
