Roberto Firmino’s importance to this Liverpool side is enormous, with the Brazilian improving ever since he joined from Hoffenheim back in 2015.
He leads the line in a unique way, getting the very best out of those around him, particularly Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Despite this, ex-Liverpool man Danny Murphy told talkSPORT that he believes Harry Kane would be a better option for the Reds:
I think Harry Kane would get in Liverpool’s team ahead of Firmino, because I think he’d score more goals.
I love Firmino but he’s not Harry Kane.
Murphy’s former Reds colleague John Arne Riise made it clear what he thought of his opinion on Twitter:

These Liverpool fans loved what Riise had to say, completely disagreeing with Murphy.
I don’t think he’s ever seen Firmino play or knows Liverpool’s system.

Read Liverpool Verdict
Kane is a fantastic striker on his day, scoring goals for fun and proving to be a key man for both Tottenham and England.
He is a completely different player to Firmino, however, and Liverpool’s entire system would fall apart if they changed places.
Everything about Firmino’s game is based around selflessness, while Kane is a player obsessed with scoring goals rather than creating them.
It is a strange view from Murphy, especially as he presumably watches Liverpool’s No.9 on a regular basis.
