The young Englishman partnered Virgil van Dijk in defence and hardly put a foot wrong throughout the encounter.

Gomez was at the receiving end of some criticism last month for some dodgy performances at right-back, but his favourite position is centre-back and he proved all his doubters wrong on Saturday.
He’ll be full of confidence now and Joel Matip will have a challenge on his hands to get Gomez out of the starting XI when he returns from injury.
Gomez and Van Dijk together have everything, so if they continue to play well together, that could be the partnership for the remainder of the season.
