A number of Liverpool supporters are even more confident about Fabinho’s new role as a centre-back, following the emergence of an eye-catching statistic.
The Brazilian was exceptional in the Reds’ 1-0 victory away to Ajax on Wednesday night, allowing his side to keep a clean-sheet and get their Champions League campaign off to a winning start.
A midfielder by trade, Fabinho has already filled in at the back this season, producing a star showing away to Chelsea, in which This Is Anfield gave him a nine-out-of-10 rating.
With Virgil van DIjk now possibly not playing again this season due to a cruciate ligament injury, it may that the 26-year-old is used regularly at centre-back, slotting in alongside Joe Gomez or Joel Matip.
After the win over Ajax, it was pointed out by various fans on Twitter that Liverpool are actually yet to concede a goal when Fabinho has started at centre-back.
He filled in for the suspended Van Dijk against Bayern Munich in 2018/19, in a 0-0 draw at Anfield, as well as shining in a 1-0 win over Brighton, this season’s clash 2-0 triumph at Chelsea and Wednesday’s game in Amsterdam.
These Liverpool supporters have been reacting to the stat on Twitter, lauding Fabinho in the process.

Man try tell me Fabinho isn’t world class when he’s played 4 games out of position at CB and kept 4 clean sheets😂
Funny thing is he’s even better as a DM. Walks into nearly every team in the world I’m afraid.
Walks into the back line over most of you mans CBs aswell🤣🤣
