Liverpool fans react to beating Manchester City

Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-1 at Anfield in a brilliant team performance. Anfield was rocking and the Liverpool players certainly thrived from it.

In the first five minutes City believed they should have had a penalty, however it was denied and Liverpool instantly hit on the counter attack, this led to Fabinho’s thunder-strike which sent Anfield into oblivion.

As the first half went by, Pep Guardiola’s side stepped up their intensity but could not find a way to score.

Once again, the current European Champions hit Manchester City on the counter attack. Andrew Robertson whipped in a beauty of a cross and the Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah comfortably headed the ball in the back of the net.

In the second half, the current Premier League title holders controlled the game. But, it did not take long for the inform Sadio Mane to make it 3-0. Liverpool could not keep a clean sheet, due to Bernardo Silva’s consolation goal.

Liverpool fans expressed their delight on social media. Here is what they had to say.

READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT:

I am honestly starting to run out of words for this magnificent Liverpool side.

Jurgen Klopp installed spirit, desire, backbone and quality in every single position.

That was the best performance all season. The Reds showed why they are the European Champions, and humbled Pep Guardiola’s City.

Everyone put a 9/10 performance. However, Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum deserve special mentions. They were tenacious, phenomenal and superior to everybody on that pitch!

Liverpool now sit 8 points clear above Leicester and 9 points above Manchester City.
