Liverpool fans react to Champions League win against Genk

Liverpool beat Genk 2-1 at Anfield on Tuesday night, on a relativity comfortable night.

Jurgen Klopp made six changes against the Belgian side, with Andy Robertson, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino among those starting on the substitutes’ bench.

In the first half, Liverpool were lively, and as a result, they went 1-0 up, thanks to a cheeky finish from Gini Wijnaldum.

The Reds started to slow down the game and not get out of second gear, however, and Genk equalised after Mbwana Samatta powered home a header from a corner.

In the second half, Liverpool created numerous chances, but just like on Saturday against Aston Villa, they could not find the net with the majority of them.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a beautiful goal to earn Klopp’s side all three points, though, and Napoli’s 1-1 draw with Salzburg means Liverpool  now top Group E.

These fans provided their thoughts on the game on social media – here is what they had to say.

It was a relatively dull game, in truth, but it was all about getting the job done.

It was a surprise to see Mohamed Salah start – it felt as though it would be better if he rested his ankle so he can be fully fit for Manchester City on Sunday.

Despite that, he was lively at some points of the game, but he also frustrated at times.

Chamberlain and Naby Keita looked promising and it was nice for them to get more minutes under their belt.
