Liverpool are set to join Arsenal in the race to sign the highly-rated Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu, according to the Mirror.
The up-and-coming defender is also said to have attracted interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool are keen to sign another centre-back this summer to partner Virgil van Dijk over the long term.
Soyuncu is currently on international duty with Turkey and was reportedly scouted by Liverpool last night as his country drew 1-1 with Russia.
The centre-back was in fact at fault for Russia’s goal after he gave the ball away on the edge of his own penalty box.
Soyuncu this week spoke to Turkish media and stated that his future would be decided once he returns to Germany.
Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is said to be a long-term admirer of the Turkish youngster, but Liverpool now look set to rival the Gunners for his signature.
