Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has called out Jurgen Klopp and says that the manager needs to be truthful to the Liverpool fans regarding the reason why Daniel Sturridge is still not playing.
Hamann said that fans who are paying around £1000-a-season to watch their club play without one of its star strikers deserve to know his situation, but instead, nobody has any real idea what Sturridge’s condition is.
The German went on to say that he is not convinced that Sturridge is recovering from a serious physical injury, but that the problem is more mental.
He told talkSPORT:
Judging by the way Jurgen Klopp answered his questions [ahead of the Manchester United game] I don’t think there is too much wrong with the player.

The ex-Reds midfielder was playing for Manchester City when, at the age of 17, Sturridge made his senior debut, and he says that it was obvious that the young talent was not prepared to push himself through the pain barrier.
He said:
There was always something wrong with him on the Thursday or the Friday. His back, his hamstring, there was always something.
Daniel Sturridge has three years left on his contract with Liverpool and as such, the German said that there is no need for Klopp to be trying to protect his injury-prone striker.
If there isn’t a problem with him, then it is time to stop protecting the player.
However if there is a serious problem with the England international, he needs to be straight about it and allow the fans peace of mind on the situation.
