All of his goals have come when deployed in that position, as have two of his three assists. Sane didn’t start the season as a first choice regular in the Schalke team, but has started their last five Bundesliga games.

The 19-year-old made his debut for Germany’s Under-21s in September this year, when he created a goal in a 2-1 victory over Denmark. He’s played a further two Under-21 games since and has managed to score three times and assist another goal.

Sane is one of the hottest young properties in European football and Liverpool will almost certainly face competition to sign him in January.
