The Reds march on.
A scrappy 2–0 win against Watford has given the European Champions a 10-point lead at the summit of the Premier League and they now to look to bring the Club World Cup home from Qatar.
Like many a matches before this season, this encounter against the Hornets was far from comfortable and Alisson had to be called into action numerous times.
The three points are all that matter, however, and Liverpool did the business to ensure there were no slip-ups in terms of points.
They will now be away from league action due to their commitments elsewhere and will no doubt will be feeling safe in the knowledge that at least one of their title contenders, if not both, will drop points when Manchester City and Leicester City go head-to-head on Saturday.
While many are complaining about the fixture congestion and the injury problems that come with it, they should realise that lifting another trophy – Liverpool’s third this year, if it happens – may just prove to be another shot in the arm.
It would bring even more confidence and momentum to the Liverpool players, as they look to finally get over the line and end the 30-year wait for that elusive league crown.
There is still a long way to go this season, but Reds fans will be feeling positive, especially considering Mohamed Salah seems to be getting back to his best and Sadio Mane continues to be devastating.
There’s also three clean-sheets in a row and a change in formation to enjoy, with the latter seemingly helping Jurgen Klopp cope in the absence of the almost irreplaceable Fabinho.
Add to this the likely signing of Salzburg star Takumi Minamino and the eventual return of Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Fabinho from injury, and we could be in a for an extremely strong finish to the season, replicating the end of 2018/19.
There is still a long way to go in the title race, and the season in general, but even at the midway point, Klopp’s men look relentless and unstoppable.
It does look like it might be another special campaign for Liverpool come May, a year on from lifting number six in Madrid.
